TOPEKA (AP) – A Kansas doctor says she omitted some details from her records on abortion patients because she feared abortion opponents might obtain the information.

Dr. Ann Kristin Neuhaus provided the second opinions that the late Dr. George Tiller’s clinic in Wichita needed to perform late-term abortions. She testified Thursday in a disciplinary
hearing that she wanted to protect patients’ privacy.

A complaint before the state medical board accuses Neuhaus of negligence in conducting mental health exams for 11 patients aged 10 to 18 in 2003.

Board attorneys contend her records lack detailed information about the patients. Neuhaus testified that she wanted to create good records, but worried about abortion opponents getting the information and making it public.

Anti-abortion Republican Phill Kline was Kansas attorney general at the time.
