WICHITA – At around 1:32 a-m Friday morning, law enforcement officers responded to the report of a missing jogger around the Wichita suburb of Kechi. Just after 2:30 a-m, 65-year-old, Dr. William H. Whiteside was found dead in the ditch at 3600 East 61st Street North. He appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

Then around 8:30 a-m, a man contacted the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and identified himself as the driver who may have struck the doctor.

Deputies and detectives are continuing their investigation into the death, and no arrests have been made.
