KBI Officials Exhume The Bodies Of Perry Smith & Richard Hickock

Kansas Bureau of Investigation Agents obtained and are executing a search warrant today to exhume the bodies of Perry Smith and Richard Hickock and collect samples for DNA testing.
This was conducted by members of the KBI’s Crime Scene Response Team.

Smith and Hickock were convicted and executed by Kansas for the 1959 murder of Herb, Bonnie, Nancy and Kenyon Clutter near Holcomb in Finney County. Smith’s and Hickock’s remains are buried in a private cemetery in Leavenworth County.

A representative of the Sarasota County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office was present to assist in obtaining the warrant and to observe the exhumation, as the warrant was obtained to assist Sarasota County’s investigation of a similar 1959 quadruple homicide.
