WICHITA – Striving to be at the forefront of using available technology to reach alumni and fans, the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) is pressing forward with WatchLive – the conference’s new videostreaming broadcast network available on KCACsports.com. In addition to being available on the conference website, each member institution will also be offering videostreamed content on their own athletic department websites.

This new venture for the conference will be delivered free of charge via the Internet in collaboration with UpperSports, the videostreaming partner selected by the conference.

“One of our primary goals over the past year was developing a low cost/no cost ability to showcase sporting events through the KCAC website,” stated Dr. Scott Crawford, KCAC Commissioner.

He added, “This has been a project which has taken some time to get up and running, but will prove to be a great resource to the conference members in reaching alumni, fans, and potential students who will be able to watch live sports content for free.”

For the first season of WatchLive, KCAC member schools have committed to showing all home football games as well as all men’s and women’s basketball games. The schools will also be required to provide live videostreaming for any conference championship events they host on their campus this fall including men’s soccer, women’s soccer, and volleyball.

Many of the member institutions will also broadcast several regular season volleyball and soccer matches in addition to the football games being videostreamed.

One of the unique features about the UpperSports platform is the ability to view its content with smart phones and other handheld devices with Adobe Flash capability.

“We will be able to connect with more people than ever before by providing this content. Overall, we expect to develop additional exposure for our conference teams, rivalries, and championships,” indicated Crawford.

“People who follow the conference will be more up to date than ever before in knowing the scores from around the conference and be able to see live action video – all with the convenience of a mobile device when sitting in the stands cheering on their favorite KCAC team.”
