TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Transportation Wednesday announced approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects in Kansas. The letting was held Dec. 14, 2011 in Topeka.

Here in Reno County, that includes U-S 50 from the Stafford-Reno county line east to county route 360, and will include milling and overlay, for 8.8 miles. APAC Kansas, Inc., Shears Division, Hutchinson had the low bid of over 6.3-million dollars.

They also won the bid for work on U-S. 50 from county route 360 east to the junction of U-S 50 and K-14, again for milling and overlay for 8 miles at a cost of over 7.2-million dollars.

There are also projects in surrounding counties including in Harvey County on K-196 beginning at I-135 then east to the Butler County line. That will include overlay and shoulders, for 9.6 miles. Venture Corporation, of Great Bend had the low bid of over 1.6-million.

In Pratt County, a bridge on K-64 located 2.7 miles northeast of U-S 281 will be repaired and PBX Corporation and Subsidiaries, of Sapulpa, Okla., had the low bid of 69-thousand, 954-dollars.

Also in Pratt County, work on U-S 54 highway from the Pratt-Kiowa county line east to the west city limits of Pratt will include overlay work for 14.2 miles. Venture Corporation, of Great Bend had the low bid for that project for over 8.4-million dollars.

K-61 highway in Pratt County from the U-S 54 junction north for 1.3 miles will include, pavement reconstruction with APAC Kansas, Inc., Shears Division, of Hutchinson having the low bid of just over 3-million, 80-thousand dollars.

Again, these bids were announced for our area on Wednesday by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
