YODER, Kan. — Ed Pavey, Director of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center near Yoder, will retire on June 16 after 28 years of service.

Pavey is the third director since the 1968 Kansas legislature established KLETC as the central headquarters for law enforcement training.

Pavey joined the staff back in 1989 as the Assistant Director, then became acting director in 1994. He was then named permanent director on June 17, 1995.

Before that, he had a 20-year career with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office where he served as undersheriff for Vern Miller, Johnnie Darr and Mike Hill.

Pavey says it’s time to hand off the leadership reins to another professional who will bring renewed visions and vitality to the job.
