PARK CITY – The Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team won its third Region VI Tournament championship in team history on Tuesday, defeating Independence 43-41 in the women’s championship game at Hartman Arena in Park City.

The second-ranked Lady Dragons (33-0) advance to the NJCAA Women’s National Tournament, which begins next Tuesday at the Bicentennial Center in Salina. Hutchinson also made national tournament appearances in 1977 and 2009.

Jackie Patterson was named the Region VI Tournament MVP for the second-straight year. She was joined by sophomores Laura Patrick and Alysse Barlow on the all-tournament team.
