Local man faces serious charges in domestic case

Octavio Blanton 2

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man made a court appearance Thursday where he was told of possible charges after a domestic disturbance late Tuesday evening.

Octavio Blanton faces possible charges of aggravated battery, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

He and the victim apparently got into an argument that turned violent. He allegedly pulled her from a bathtub by her neck and choked her with her feet off the ground. He’s then alleged to have thrown her against the toilet, knocking it over to the point that the alleged victim got fingers caught underneath. He is also alleged to have struck her numerous times and even bit her. EMS was called to the scene and indicated she might need some stitches.

In court, Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen increased his bond to $15,000. Blanton will be back in court next week.

He’s currently on community corrections for a burglary conviction out of Sedgwick County.
