HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A local man is jailed on a bond of $16,500 after he was arrested on warrants, but also allegedly interfered with law enforcement making the arrest.
Eric Merino is allegedly to have entered a home in the 3800 block of West 7th uninvited and severely battered the occupant. The alleged crimes include aggravated burglary and aggravated battery.
When law enforcement went to make an arrest on outstanding warrants, Merino allegedly gave a false name and also resisted being arrested. He claims it was the way the officers approached him that have him pause saying they had their hands on their guns.
He faces an additional charge of interference with law enforcement. He should be back in court next week on that charge, while the battery case will be placed on a waiver-status docket.
