Local Real Estate agent dies of Ovarian Cancer

A local Real Estate company owner lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer on Wednesday. Judy McCool had been working in the real estate business for 37-years and was a broker and owner of Plaza Astle Realty in Hutchinson, in fact was the realtor of the year in 1990.

She was also involved in the local community having served as a board member for the Chamber of Commerce, Hutchinson Community College, Boys and Girls Club, a board member and president of the Hutchinson Board of Realtors, a third generation of PEO Chapter BL and the only woman president of Prairie Dunes Country Club.

Her death Wednesday occurred at Hospice House here in Hutchinson.

She was born May 15, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Joe C. and Marjorie Burden Astle.

She had been a Hutchinson resident since she was 4 years of age. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1963 and Hutchinson Community College in 1965. She attended Wichita State University and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

Judy married Darrel McCool Nov. 28, 1968, in Hutchinson. She is survived by her husband, and their children, Becky Ramirez, and Jason McCool as well her grandchildren.

Cremation has occurred and a private family burial will take place prior to the weekend. A Celebration of Life will take place Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman, with Reverend Amy Dame officiating.

Friends may sign the book today and Friday 9 a-m to 9 p-m., Saturday 9 a-m. to 5 p-m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in her honor to Hospice of Reno County, Boys and Girls Club of Hutchinson, or the First Presbyterian Church Almsgiving.

Judy McCool was 66-years-old.
