HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Jackson Loftin had the hot hand on Friday, tallying four hits and leading Hutchinson Monarchsto a 12-2 victory over Cheney Diamond Dawgs. Loftin singled in the third, singled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and singled in the sixth.
In the first inning, Cheney Diamond Dawgs got their offense started. Kennard’s sac fly scored one run for Cheney Diamond Dawgs.
Hutchinson Monarchs notched three runs in the fourth inning. The offensive firepower by Hutchinson Monarchs was led by Loftin, Scott Wolverton, and Mason Lowe, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Matt Hopkins led things off on the mound for Hutchinson Monarchs. He surrendered two runs on six hits over six innings, striking out six.
Schumann was on the hill for Cheney Diamond Dawgs. He allowed six hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out two. #16 threw three innings out of the bullpen.
Hutchinson Monarchs launched one home run on the day. Keith Wolverton had a long ball in the third inning to score Loftin and Rindt to blow the game open.
Hutchinson Monarchs totaled 13 hits. Loftin, Taylor Barber, and Dylan Nedved each racked up multiple hits for Hutchinson Monarchs. Loftin went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Hutchinson Monarchs in hits. Hutchinson Monarchs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Wolverton had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
Cheney Diamond Dawgs tallied six hits on the day. Jackson Glemm and Pruitt each had multiple hits for Cheney Diamond Dawgs.

The Monarchs honored Lindy Wray who was a former Hutchinson Community College baseball player with a moment of silence prior to the game.  Wray was tragically killed this week at his home in Hutchinson.  He was layed to rest Friday morning. Wray was 34 years of age.  The Wray family has been involved with baseball and softball for many years in Hutchinson.  His number 27 was chalked on the field behind home plate.
