The Dickinson Theaters in the Hutchinson Mall will stay open. According to Sharon Stolte with the law firm of Stinson, Morrison and Hecker, an agreement was reached between the owners of the Hutchinson Mall, Rubloff Properties, and Dickinson on a new lease.
The future of the theater was in doubt when Dickinson filed for bankruptcy last summer and announced a number of closings and proposed lease terminations unless new agreements could be reached. That included the Hutchinson Mall-8 Theater.
A judge recently extended the deadline for the leases by two weeks to January 15th, to allow the parties more time to hammer out a new agreement. Terms of the lease were not disclosed, but Stolte did say that the new agreement did include a rent concession to Dickinson. Full details could come later, if the agreement is approved by the judge overseeing the Dickinson’s bankruptcy proceedings.
