A man arrested on child sex charges was in court Wednesday morning for a first appearance.

Michael Gimple faces charges of electronic solicitation and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child for allegedly trying to entice a 15-year-old girl into a sexual act. He is also alleged to have filmed the girl using a cell phone, but also texting each other. The alleged crimes occurring between August 16 and October 5.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell asked for an increase in the bond from 17-thousand, 500-dollars to 50-thousand because of the nature of the charges and the fact that all three charges are presumptive prison. Gimple didn’t request any bond reduction and had no reaction to the states request. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen granted the request and increased the bond.

If convicted, Gimple could be looking a maximum of 247-months for the electronic solicitation charge and a maximum of 136-months on each of the other two charges.

With the case filed, he’ll appear at future waiver-status hearing.
