HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A man charged with crimes from 2005 avoided a preliminary hearing Thursday and entered pleas to lesser charges.

Martin Vasquez was facing a felony charge of burglary where the state alleged that he entered a home in the 400 block of East 10th, with the intent to commit sexual battery. The second charge was for the actual sexual battery where he allegedly touched a woman in a sexual way who didn’t give consent to do so. The final count was for domestic battery involving the same woman.

But, he entered pleas to amended charges that included three counts of domestic battery. District Attorney Keith Schroeder telling the court that the victim didn’t want him to serve any prison time or be deported. However, there is apparently an immigration hold on Vasquez, so that could still happen.

They also did sentencing Thursday and he was given an underlying sentence of a year and six months in the Reno County Correctional Facility, but was then placed on probation for one year.

The crimes occurring back on Sept, 30, 2005, but he had used an alias of Raymondo Reyes and they had trouble locating him, in part because of having a bogus address.
