Man charged in 2005 case just now arrested

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A man who was charged by then Assistant District Attorney Cheryl Allen has his case just now making it through the courts.

Martin Vasquez faces one felony and two misdemeanors for a case that goes back to 2005. the felony charge if for burglary where the state alleges he entered a home in the 400 block of East 10th, with the intent to commit sexual battery.

The second charge is for the actual sexual battery where he allegedly touched a woman in a sexual way who didn’t give consent to do so. The final count is for domestic battery involving the same woman.

These alleged crimes occurring back on Sept, 30, 2015. So why was he just now arrested with the case making its way through the courts? Detective Dean Harcrow told us that he had used an alias of Raymondo Reyes and they had trouble locating him.

He appeared in front of Judge Joe McCarville because as we mention, Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen filed the charges while working in the D-A’s office.

The case now moves to a waiver-status docket.
