HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A man facing a charge of felony theft for stealing a pickup on Sept. 16 is now facing some additional charges where he’s accused of illegally being in possession of guns.

It’s unlawful for Daniel Kopp to have guns after being convicted as a juvenile in 2014 with a felony for indecent liberties with a child.

Kopp is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm on two different occasions.

The first was on Nov. 16 when police found him to be in possession of a 40-caliber handgun. In the second incident, he was found in possession of four weapons including a 12-gauge shotgun and three rifles. Police found him with those weapons on Nov. 21.

His bond is set at $9,100. Both cases will now be scheduled together on a waiver-status docket.
