A 51-year-old Hutchinson accused of pointing a cross bow at a neighbor has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.
Jackie Lee Thomas made a brief court appearance Wednesday where his attorney Sarah Sweet McKinnon told the judge that after visiting her client in the jail that she believed the evaluation was warranted. There was no objection from the state, so Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen ordered the evaluation at Horizon’s Mental Health Center.
Thomas is charged with a single count of aggravated assault stemming from the incident November 2.
Thomas allegedly pointed the weapon at Shelly King who lives just a few doors down the street from the defendant.
Judge McEwen set a status hearing in the case for December 4.
