Marvin Elmer Curless | 1941 – 2019 |

Marvin Elmer Curless, 77, died Friday, November 8, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.  He was born November 11, 1941, in Hutchinson, to Elmer H. and Fannie V. (Hale) Curless.  Marvin graduated from Hutchinson High School.  He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970.  Marvin worked a variety of jobs over the years from oilfield to farm and in maintenance at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.  He was a member and associate pastor of 11th Ave. Chapel, Hutchinson.

On September 1, 2012, Marvin married Lucinda N. (Akins) Sherman in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: son, Daniel (Jocelyn) Engstrom, Olathe; stepdaughters, Suzanne Wilde, McPherson, Tess Murray, Hutchinson, Rayetta Burkholder, Norwalk, IA; sister, Patricia ‘Patti’ Manke, Hutchinson; brother, Fred (Carolyn) Curless, Russellville, AR; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Denise.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Earlene Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.  Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 6-8 p.m., Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
