Mary Hightower, 83, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society-Hutchinson Village.  She was born January 12, 1936, in Kingman, to Herbert and Mamie Anne (Brawner) Hopkins.

Mary retired from the food service department at Hutchinson Community College.  She was of the Christian faith.

On July 14, 1954, she married James Sawyer Hightower in Enid, OK.  He died April 27, 2011.

Mary is survived by: daughters, Jamie Borders and husband Monte, and Connie Crenshaw; grandchildren, Stacy Borders, Myron Shuler, Kristy Schwind and husband Tim, Jennifer Hart, Corey Borders and wife Jami; and great-grandchildren, Alexander Yoder, Trinity Schwind, Kyndal Borders, Grant Schwind, and Mariah David.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; one sister; three brothers; and grandson, Gary Borders.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2019, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W.  4th Avenue, with Pastor Jeffrey S. Arnold officiating.  Friends can sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Mary Hightower Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
