The attorney for a Hutchinson woman was a no show in court, apparently not given notice of the hearing, but Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton says he may take one case against Dinah Sanchez-Loredo to the federal court.

He was referring to the case going back to July of 2007 which had been to the Kansas Supreme Court.

This case involved selling drugs when the vehicle she and Amber Moore were in was stopped by drug detectives as they were coming back to Hutchinson from Dodge City. They allegedly had a large quantity of drugs and both were charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package.

Both filed a motion to suppress, because they believed their rights were violated when the drug unit detectives searched the vehicle without a warrant. Judge Chambers agreed and suppressed the evidence, but the state filed an appeal and the Kansas Court of Appeals overturned the judge. The defense then asked for a review, and the Kansas Supreme Court sided with the state.

Stanton told us he couldn’t send the case to the feds while he had an appeal pending, but is now free to do so.

The other two cases also involve the distribution of drugs.

Sanchez-Loredo was arrested in January for being in possession of meth with intent to sell. She was allegedly caught with the drugs and paraphernalia and allegedly had 3-ounces on her. She was also arrested back in early November of last year, along with Natasha Willm for allegedly having over a pound of meth.

Stanton says there is a plea offer out on those two cases, and if she doesn’t except, then he would consider sending those two cases to feds as well.
