Minor accident because of ice on Woodie Seat

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — It could have been worse than it was when a 17-year-old South Hutchinson man lost control of his vehicle on the Woodie Seat Freeway Thanksgiving night.

According to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, German G. Palmerio was driving north on Woodie Seat Bridge. He applied the brakes and lost control due to the ice. He hit the east guard wall, sending him into the oncoming lane and hitting the west guard rail where the vehicle came to rest. German suffered minor injures to his head.

Reno county EMS and Fire arrived at the scene and he was treated for his injuries and released to his parents. German was wearing his seatbelt, the airbags did deploy.

The accident occurred just before 11 p.m.
