TURON – One person was taken to a Wichita hospital Saturday after a motorcycle-van crash near Turon Saturday.
Taken to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita was 50-year-old Daniel Keen from Cunningham. He is listed in serious condition according to hospital officials.
According to the Reno County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Tatro, 42-year-old Tasha Hickert of Hutchinson was traveling north bound on Brownlee Rd., when she slowed to make a left turn onto Pretty Prairie Rd. A second car was traveling behind her, while at the same time, Keen, was also traveling north on Brownlee behind the two vehicles.
Mrs. Hickert signaled and began to make a left turn. Keen moved to the other lane in what was believed to be an attempt to pass. As the Hickert vehicle turned, Keen’s motorcycle impacted the left rear corner of the van.
Keen was airlifted from the scene by Midwest Lifeteam helicopter and his exact injuries are unknown. Keen was not wearing a helmet according to Deputy Tatro.
None of the six occupants in the van were injured and all were wearing seatbelts.
Alcohol was not a factor in the accident according to Tatro.
The accident occurring around 1:45 p-m Saturday at the intersection of Pretty Prairie and Brownlee Rd’s, about two miles south of Turon.
Tatro says the accident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
