HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Two new movies opening in Hutchinson and nationwide this weekend couldn’t be more different.

The highly-popular British television series focusing on the Crawley family saga comes to the big screen as “Downton Abbey” brings forth its 1927 English setting using much of the original cast.

The clash between this sophisticated family and their servant workers in an impressive countryside presents quite an audience contrast with the American and Mexican atmosphere of “Rambo: Last Blood,” which — of course — features Sylvester Stallone, who is now in his 70s. This time, when a friend’s daughter is kidnapped, Rambo crosses the border (if only we had that Trump wall) to bring her back, but is confronted by a ruthless cartel.

You’ve got quite a selection between “Rambo: Last Blood,” fifth in the series, and “Downton Abbey.” I’m betting blood will be thicker than British tea and will likely be tops at the box office despite Sly being too old to again be a believable Rambo.

Last weekend’s supposedly big flick, “Hustlers” starring Jennifer Lopez, did $33.2 million in ticket sales, but came in second to “It Chapter Two,” which was in its second weekend. Although “Hustlers” is being highly touted for Academy consideration, I found it way too overdone with filthy language, sex and a story both uninspiring and boring. Barely two out of a possible four stars for what I consider the highly-overrated “Hustlers.” I expect the movie to see a big drop in attendance this week because of poor word of mouth.
