TOPEKA – Two men are charged with murdering a Junction City woman to keep her from telling police about a drug trafficking operation. The indictment was unsealed Monday in U.S. District Court in Topeka by U-S Attorney Barry Grissom.

Grissom joined Junction City Police Chief Tim Brown and Geary County Attorney Steve Opat at a press conference today to announce the unsealing of the indictment.

34-year-old Virok D. Webb and 29-year-old Marcus D. Roberson, both of Junction City are charged with killing Crystal K. Fisher, who was found shot to death March 3, 2010, in Junction City. The indictment alleges Webb and Roberson planned and carried out the murder to prevent Fisher from telling law enforcement about their drug trafficking operation.

In addition Webb and Roberson are charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and one count of conspiracy to distribute powder cocaine.

Others charged include 29-year-old Jamaica L. Chism, 20-year-old Alisha A. Escobedo, 23-year-old Megan N. Fuller, 31-year-old Kennin Dewberry, 25-year-old Caress Jackson and 26-year-old Keishana Johnson, all of Junction City and each charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and one count of conspiracy to distribute powder cocaine.

The indictment alleges all the defendants were part of a drug trafficking conspiracy that operated in Geary County from Nov. 7, 2008, until April 1, 2011.

Upon conviction, the penalty for murder to prevent a person from providing information concerning a federal crime is death or life imprisonment. Each of the drug charges carries a penalty of not less than 10 years and not more than life in federal prison and a fine up to $10 million.
