NICKERSON – We now have the name of the victim from Tuesday’s wreck west of Nickerson.

Sheriff Captain Wayne Baughman says she was 30-year-old Megan Escalante, from Hoisington.

According to Baughman, deputies were sent to the two vehicle crash around 3:20 p-m at K-96 and Fairview Rd., west of Nickerson.

When they arrived, they found a 1995 Mack Dump truck in the south ditch and a 2003 Chevy Malibu on its top in the north ditch. The investigation indicates that the Chevy was west bound and crossed the center line and struck the east bound dump truck. After impact, the vehicle rolled on its top and came to rest in the north ditch.

Escalante was seat belted in, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, 52-year-old Steven Parkhurst of Inman received minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene.
