The new President of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce was introduced Wednesday to members of the chamber at their January breakfast event

Officials had earlier mentioned that Monty Montgomery will bring to Hutchinson and Reno County, a very comprehensive, diverse and well-rounded background in economic development.

Montgomery told us he has now been in Hutchinson for only 72-hours after taking over the job on January 16, after Dave Kerr resigned as President after his 5 years with the organization. He says he has purchased a home in Hutchinson, in fact is closing on that home Wednesday.

He comes from West Texas where he joked, “they’ve had more snow already this winter then here in Kansas.” It wouldn’t take much since we’ve only had a dusting here in Kansas so far.

Montgomery has been engaged in developing rural housing and other projects. From 2004 to 2006 he was the executive director of the Seminole, Texas Economic Development Corporation. Previously he was involved in economic development work in Midland and Haskell, Texas as well as Grand Island, Nebraska.
