GREAT BEND – A new species of dinosaur was just discovered in Barton County approximately four miles north of Redwing.
The specimen has unofficially been named “Carnivorous Amphibious Reptile” , or CALvin. Bob Blasé of rural Barton County now owns the remains. To be more precise, Bob is actually the visionary creator of CALvin. In visiting with Blasé, he just let his imagination run wild…creating this 16 foot long lizard skeleton from cow bones…deer sheds (antlers)…and assorted bones from other animals.
This is not Bob’s first such project…and there will likely be many more to come. Some may see Bob Blases’ work as “out there.” Others, like me, see it as a true artistic creation based on an endless imagination.
Blasé has also crafted different versions of bone handled knives and bone pistol grips.
