Hutchinson City Manager John Deardoff announced Thursday the appointment of Trent Maxwell as our new Building Official.

He says for the past 4-years, Maxwell has served as a building inspector in the city’s Inspection Department.

He has experience with plan review for structural and life safety as well as field inspections for structural, electrical, plumbing and mechanical according to Deardoff.

Prior to joining the City of Hutchinson in 2005, Maxwell worked in the construction industry in St. George, Utah.

Three candidates were interviewed for the position by two different community panels and Deardoff says they were fortunate to have a quality field of candidates to consider.

Maxwell’s Hutchinson experience and his desire to grow in his profession won out over the other candidates.

The promotion is effective immediately.
