NICKERSON — Nickerson Elementary School has been awarded The Challenge Award by Kansas State Department of Education for achievement in reading and math.
The award recognized the school for outstanding achievement and accomplishment based on Kansas Assessment results, the sample size, and the socioeconomic status of those taking the test.
The Challenge Awards are designed to recognize Kansas schools that are making a notable difference in student achievement despite facing significant challenges in their school population. For elementary schools, 75 percent of the criteria is weighted on reading and math achievement.
The award will be presented on Tuesday, April 9, at 7:55 a.m. at Nickerson Elementary School by Ben Jones, Kansas State Board of Education member.
