After a Nickerson man’s drug case ended with a mistrial last week, Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton says he plans to ask that the defendant’s bond be revoked.

The jury trial for Armando Corral ended with a mistrial after a jury read a newspaper article about the trial, and a second juror apparently then heard about it and was influenced by it.

Corral is facing a new trial on marijuana distribution charges, but the state may seek to have his bond revoked after he apparently showed up at the same church as the victim advocate for the District Attorney’s Office and wanted to sit next to her. She said no, that her husband was parking the car and would be sitting next to her, so Corral sat in front of her. He claims that he’s a member of the church.

Judge Trish Rose has set a hearing on the state request for Thursday at 1:30 p-m. They may also decide on a new trial date in the case.

Corral is accused of number of charges associated with the distribution of marijuana where the state says he was using the telephone on a number of occasions to make the drug transactions. In at least one case, he’s accused of selling the pot to an undercover KBI agent. The state has also charged him with multiple counts of no drug tax stamp. The alleged crimes are said to have began on September 28, 2004 and the last one occurring on October 23, 2006.

The state says they will again seek to take the case to another jury.
