UPDATE: Two people injured in two vehicle crash on I-70 near Salina

SALINA – Two people were taken to a Salina hospital after a two vehicle accident on I-70 just east of the junction with I-135.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Silverado Pickup driven by 49-year-old Rigoberto Gonzalez-Parra of Liberal collided with a PT Cruiser driven by 18-year-old Carson B. Simmons of Tonganoxie. Apparently both were westbound on I-70, and the Gonzalez-Parra vehicle struck the cruiser. That caused both to roll.

A 45-year-old passenger in the Gonzalez-Parra vehicle was transported to Salina Regional Hospital, as was Simmons.

Gonzalez, another passenger in his vehicle and a passenger in the Simmons vehicle were injured.

The Salina Post was reporting that one person has to be extricated from one of the vehicles.

The accident occurring just after 10 a-m Friday morning near Salina.
