NEWTON – A 19-year-old Newton man was taken to a Wichita hospital during the noon hour Tuesday after his van collided with a semi on U-S 50 at Anderson Road in Newton.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Christian Dean Gehring was northbound on Anderson and failed to yield to a westbound semi on 50 highway. The semi struck the passenger side of Gehring’s vehicle.

Gehring was taken to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita for treatment of his injuries.
