One of 14 arrested in April on drug distribution charges enters plea

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — One of the 14 people arrested back in April after a drug sweep by the Reno County Sheriff’s Office waived her right to a jury trial in six cases and entered guilty pleas instead.

Carolyn Herren was accused in six cases involving the distribution of drugs within a thousand feet of a school. In all but one of the cases she was accused of using a cellphone to make the drug transactions. All of the crimes occurred in October of last year.

Reno County District Judge Trish Rose set sentencing for Aug. 16. Both sides may recommend some form of probation.
