One of three men charged in a case from last month involving the alleged kidnapping and beating of a Nickerson man finds himself back in jail.

29-year-old Zachary Lawson is charged with aggravated kidnapping, conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, aggravated intimidation of a witness, criminal threat, possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, anabolic steroids and criminal use of weapon.

He was apparently able to post the 137-thousand dollar bond in the case, but was scheduled for a status hearing in the case last week and failed to show up. The judge then issued a warrant for his arrest with a 250-thousand dollar bond.

He was arrested on that warrant, as well as a new case where he apparently led Nickerson Police on a chase on September 23. Charges in that case include flee and elude, for reckless driving, as well as committing five or more moving violations and no drivers license. Bond in that case set at 15-thousand, and that means total bonds are now set at 265-thousand dollars.

He along with 26-year-old Jeremia Palmer, and a third man, 28-year-old Jedrik Smith are charged in this case after a search warrant was served on Lawson’s home in Nickerson on Sunday September 11, because of the alleged beating and kidnapping of 28-year-old Larry McVey.

Lawson was in court on the new case involving flee and elude, and that will now be placed on a waiver-status docket in future weeks.
