WALTON, Kan. – One person was killed in a rollover accident in Harvey County Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on U.S. 50 near Eastlake Rd., a few miles northeast of Walton.

A woman driving in eastbound lanes and crossed the center line striking a westbound pickup .
The driver of the pickup attempted to avoid the other vehicle, but that vehicle struck his pickup on the rear passenger side causing it to swerve into the south ditch. The pickup overturned onto its top.

The driver of the pickup, a 56 year old male, was entrapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. His 22-year-old son, who was his passenger, was able to get out of the vehicle through the rear window. He suffered minor injuries. The 31-year-old female who was driving the other vehicle was uninjured.

Names of those involved are being with held until all notifications are made.

The accident occurring around 2:30 p-m. Harvey County officials say an investigation into the accident is on-going.
