Hutchinson Public Schools, to celebrate the conclusion of the work for the 2006 Bond Issue will have a ceremony and tours of Hutchinson High School. The event begins at 10 a-m, on Oct. 1 in the new lobby of Hutchinson High School, 810 East 13th.

In November 2006, Hutchinson voters approved a $78.8 million bond issue that brought improvements to all the district’s K-12 schools. Additionally, it constructed a new Career and Technical Education Academy building on the HHS campus.

Hutchinson High, which had not received significant upgrades in earlier district bond projects, received the biggest changes, including new science laboratories, an expanded library, a new performing arts center, an expanded cafeteria and made the campus ADA accessible. The school also received a new “front door” on 13th Avenue.

During the event, Board President Mike Mendoza, Superintendent Shelly Kiblinger and Hutch High Principal Ronn Roehm will make introductions and make brief comments before a ribbon cutting ceremony is held.

Following the brief ceremony, there will be tours of the high school.

Additionally, Hutchinson High will use the event as an opportunity to give away some of the trophies.

Trophies, some of which are nearly 100 years old, that do not represent Kansas State High School Activities Association honors will be available to give away on a first-come, first-served basis.
