HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 27-year-old man released from prison in June finds himself jailed on some potentially serious charges.

On Sunday, police were called to the report of an armed subject. Upon contact, the victim told officers that Terry Gant was in the residence armed with a knife.

He apparently became upset when the victim allowed her ex-husband into the home. Gant pulled a knife and asked him to leave. The ex-husband then went into the bathroom. Gant is accused of breaking the door down and again asking the man to leave.

He’s then accused of threatening the female victim with the knife. At one point, he put it to her throat, then head-butted her.

Potential charges include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery-domestic violence, criminal damage, and violation of his conditions of parole.

Gant had served time for a drug conviction, but also has priors for aggravated battery, theft, and making false writing.

His bond is set at $7,250, but he also has a parole hold. He’ll be back in court next week for the formal reading of charges.
