A 34-year-old Hutchinson man failed to get his bond lowered after he was arrested over the weekend for possession of drugs and also allegedly being in a stolen vehicle.

Jeremy Johnson of 2214 East 4th, Lot 100 was arrested after Hutchinson Police Officer Lance Hirt who responded to a suspicious activity call in the 900 block of West 4th.

Johnson was reportedly acting bizarre according to witnesses. A small plastic baggy that field tested positive for meth was found where he had been. A blue coat he was wearing apparently had two metal pipes with burnt marijuana residue and two q-tips with possible meth residue.

He was also allegedly driving a maroon Mercury Marquis which was also located at the scene. It was allegedly stolen from Wichita.

This was reported just after 8 a-m, Saturday morning.

In court, he requested a lowering of his bond and Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell thought the bond was appropriate considering the charges and prior criminal history which appears to be extensive. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen denied the request. However, it may not matter, he was allegedly paroled on March 11, in Sedgwick County, but is listed as an absconder according to the DOC website as of March 14. The bond in the new case set at 85-hundred dollars.

According to the Kansas Department of Corrections, he has convictions that go back to 2002 where he was convicted of being in possession precursors for making meth such as ephedrine. But others include forgery, making false writing, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft, obstruction, attempted flee and elude, driving while suspended and reckless driving.
