Phone scam wanting credit card numbers hitting across the country

Another phone scam in the area with a telemarketing call telling you that they can lower the interest rate on your credit cards. They say that your cards are secure, but never mention any particular credit card company. This is a Washington State number, (253) 236-2028.

An employee of Eagle Radio got such a call. A search online over this number didn’t show any particular group, but there were a number of websites indicating this number is one from scammer’s.

This is a group from out of the country fishing for credit card numbers. They want you to think they’re going to help you get your credit card interest rate lower, when in fact they want to charge the max on your card.

Never give any personal information to anyone, unless you know they are with your credit card company. Your company will identify themselves as being with that company and tell you why they are calling. The group using the Washington number don’t do that. They only say that they are with the Credit Card Calling Center, but don’t mention any particular company or even credit card brand such as Visa of Mastercard.

Again, if you get an automated telemarketing call over your credit card, contact the issuer of your card to notify them of the call, then call police.
