What was supposed to be a pre-trial hearing ended quickly after the state and the defense for 46-year-old Tobias Decker announced that they may have reach a plea agreement in the drug case against him.

The agreement at this point is tentative because his attorney, Bonnie Corrado had not yet presented the offer to her client, but thinks he’ll except it.

Decker is charged with the sale of Alprazolam, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package drugs for sale, no tax stamp, and possession of personal use drug paraphernalia.

The case starts with a Lyons Police Officer having a conversation with a woman who thought he was a 16-year-old boy and wanted to sell him some drugs. The Lyons officer then contacted Drug Unit Detective Jeremy Hedges who had him set up a sting at the Astro Motel for April 27 of this year.

The woman who was identified as Cynthia Brown agreed to meet with who she thought was a 16-year-old to sell what she said was, “fire.” There is some question as to what that is. Hedges testified at the preliminary hearing atht the officer in Lyons thought it was meth, while Hedges thought it might be marijuana.

They had a jail deputy, Daniel Wornkey, who is over 18, but looks as young as 16 go to the motel to make the buy for 150-dollars. When he went and made the buy, officers then moved in and arrested Brown.

They did a search of the room at the Astro and Decker was inside and apparently, he had rented the room, finding a receipt with his name on it. They also found the empty presciption bottle with Decker’s name on it, as well as four baggies, two of which allegedly contained meth. They were found in a black duffel bag along with a scale. The 50-pills seized were in a plastic bag.

Judge Tim Chambers agreed to allow more time for any plea agreement to be worked out, so the case will comes before the court again on December 16.
