NEWTON, Kan. — Police have made an arrest in a stabbing incident in Newton Tuesday evening.

Jailed on suspicion of aggravated battery is 23-year-old Tyler McAhren who is apparently from Butler County, but knew the victim thought to be in his 20’s.

Police responded to a report of the stabbing at a mobile home in the 1800 block of Windsor Ave., at approximately 5:30 p.m. The victim was found and taken to a Wichita hospital in critical condition with multiple stab wounds and had surgery according Police Lt. Scott Powell with the Newton Police Department. He says the victim lost a lot of blood in what he described as a gruesome scene. They expect the victim to survive.

Apparently the two knew each other and got into some sort of argument which led to the stabbing.

There were apparently others in the home when this all occurred.

McAhren is jailed on a $50,000 bond and Harvey County Attorney David Yoder was working to decide exactly what charges should be filed.
