HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Police are on the scene of a shooting at a home at 318 E. 7th.

One person was shot multiple times according to police. EMS crews performed CPR and chest compressions on the young man in the front yard of a residence and that individual was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Jose Morales.

Police arrested 31-year-old Brennan Roosevelt Trass for one count of murder in the first degree. Trass is in the custody of the Reno County Sheriff with a $100,000 bond.

Buller says they got the report of shots fired at roughly 4 p.m. and neighbors say after they heard the shots, several people ran out of the home. Some bullets apparently lodged into a vacant home across the street at 317 E. 7th. They apparently located some of those people and they were interviewed.

Trass, who is charged in the case, should make a first appearance in District Court Tuesday morning.
