Primary election is Tuesday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The primary election is tomorrow and there will be some interesting things to watch.vote-342x2861.jpg

Here’s a run down of the contested races that Reno County voters will decide on. Most of the major races have opponents facing one another, including the one that has been a bitter war of words from the start. That’s the race between incumbent Senator Pat Roberts and Dr. Milton Wolf. Closer to home, the big race is for the 1st district house seat currently held by Tim Huelskamp who’s being opposed by Alan LaPolice of Clyde.

There is a republican race in the primary for governor with Jennifer Winn going up against incumbent Sam Brownback , and there’s also the race for insurance commissioner on the republican side with five candidates. They are Clark Schultz, John Toplikar, Bev Gossage, David Powell and Ken Selzer. In the race for Secretary of State it will be incumbent Kris Kobach opposed by Scott Morgan.

On the democratic side of things, the senate race is being contested by Patrick Wiesner and Shawnee County Attorney Chad Taylor. For the 1st district house seat Bryan Whitney and James Sherow will oppose each other, and in the race for the 102nd house seat it will be Brian Davis going up against Kris Givan. Remember, incumbent Jan Pauls recently moved over  to the republican party and currently holds that seat.*

Gubernatorial Candidate Paul Davis is running unopposed.
