KANSAS CITY, KAN. – A 58-year-old man who was a registered sex offender in Ohio when he tried to arrange for a teenage boy in Kansas to move in with him has been sentenced to 14-years in federal prison.

Jack Albertson, of Lima, Ohio, pleaded guilty to one count of using a computer to attempt to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity. In his plea, Albertson admitted he sent a text message to the mother of a 14-year-old boy in Olathe, saying he wanted the boy to move in with him. Olathe Police, working with the Northwest Ohio Technology Crimes Unit, determined that Albertson had been in contact with the boy. The boy had sent pictures of himself to Albertson and Albertson had sent the boy a photo of his penis.

On Jan. 21, 2011, investigators served a search warrant at Albertson’s home in Ohio. Albertson had a list of more than 40-contacts he called “pen-pals,” more than 10 of whom were under 18 years old.
