Sources to Eagle Radio indicate that a Lenexa woman who had been missing since Sunday from that air show crash in Nevada, has been killed in that crash. That victim, Cheri Elvin, is a 1957 graduate of Hutchinson High School. In speaking with friends of the family Tuesday morning, indications are that Elvin was killed in the accident, although she’s still listed as missing until full confirmation can be obtained by the Washoe County Coroners Office.

Elvin, whose maiden name was Wilson, was visiting the Reno Air Races Friday with her Husband, Chuck, a 1955 graduate of Haven High School, their sons Bill and Brian Elvin and their daughter-in-law Linda Elvin, when a plane lost control and crashed into the grandstands.

According to the family’s website on caringbridge.com, Chuck, Bill, Brian and Linda were hurt in the crash and taken to local hospitals. Cheri Elvin could not be found.

Sources say that items believed to belong to Elvin have been located at the crash sight.

Investigators say a pilot flying a World War II era P-51 Mustang lost control of the aircraft and crashed into the grandstand where thousands of spectators were seated. The official death toll, as of Tuesday afternoon, from the accident is at 11, but likely will go higher because an unknown number of people remain unaccounted for.
