Money-Dollar-Sign-002

The Reno County Commission with little fan fair approved the 2014 budget which leaves the mill levy virtually unchanged at 38.52 mills. The budget also allows a step increase in pay for those county employees who qualify.

County Administrator Gary Meagher acknowledged the good work of county department heads for making their departments more efficient and keeping cost down as best they can. He also indicated that county health insurance cost have come down once again.

Commission Chairman Dan Deming also indicated that besides the savings in health insurance, valuations going up 4-and-half-percent also helped by bringing in an additional 900-hundred thousand dollars.

The county had a brief public hearing on the budget where virtually no one spoke for or against what the commission approved.
