It was a quick run through for Reno County Commissioners at their meeting Wednesday.

They approved the contract for County Administrator Gary Meagher for next year. That includes a base salary of 109-thousand, 242-dollars, with the rest staying basically unchanged. They also agreed that the contract will renew each year, unless the commission decides for any reason not to renew the contract. That’s not likely to happen at this point with Commission Chairman James Schlickau saying Wednesday that Meagher has saved the county much more then he’s paid each year and says they’re lucky to have him. The dollar amount reflects a 2% increase for next year in line with other county employee increases.

The commission also approved the request of information services to begin a plan, called the “server virtualization project.” This would combine several physical servers into a single virtual server, increasing efficiency, performance and up time. It would also decrease space used, electricity, a/c cooling requirements and providing for easier recovery process from equipment failure, fire, flood or other natural disaster. The project is estimated to cost just over 97-thousand dollars, however they only approved the portion for next year and that total comes to just over 27-thousand dollars.

They are scheduled to have their weekly meeting next Wednesday January 2, but so far, there’s nothing listed on the agenda for that week, but stay tuned.
