Reno County Sheriff advising residents of warrants scam

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Sheriff’s Office is once again reporting that a male has been making phone calls to residents of the county informing them that they have a warrant for their arrest. Many times, the individual will identify himself as a law enforcement officer. The individual will tell the resident on how to “pay” to take care of the warrant. This is a scam.

Reno County Sheriff’s officials remind residents that they will not call you and discuss a warrant with you. The Reno County Sheriff’s Office will not ask for payment of fines, bonds, etc. to get you out of the warrant.

Please do not send money to this individual because it is a scam.

One number the individual is using is 620-202-3723. Officials suggest you hang up on him and don’t bother calling him back.

You can report calls like this to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office.
