HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After a surge in concealed carry permits requested in Reno County last year, that number seems to have slowed some this year, at least so far.
As of the end of May, 197-residents have requested conceal carry permits with the Reno County Sheriff’s Office.
Last year, there were 618 permits requested compared with 371 in 2012 and only 180 in 2011.
The year with the lowest number according to numbers from the sheriff’s office came in 2008, when only 86 were requested.
And according to Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson, there have been no complaints or issues arising from concealed carry permits in the county.
