HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 22-year-old woman arrested on Wednesday for battery-domestic violence and endangering a child managed to get a $3,000 OR of signature bond when she appeared in court Thursday.

Reno County Sheriff Deputies were called to a home in the 4400 block of 108th Street around 3:30 p.m. on the report of a battery. They made contact with the victim who told them he had been battered by Chelsie Pierce.

He stated that he was attempting to leave with a 6-month-old child and that Pierce was extremely drunk and the two had argued. She was attempting to get the child back and struck the victim in the face with a closed fist knocking him to the ground while he was holding the child. He then covered the child while she continued striking him according to statements made in court.

When deputies arrived they saw the victim had blood on both his upper and lower lip.

Because she has no prior record of any kind, Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen agreed to the OR bond but also ordered that she have no contact with the victim or the child.

She’ll be back in court next week for the reading of formal charges.
